A festive and fun dessert featuring a moist white cake infused with vibrant strawberry and lime jello, topped with whipped cream and holiday sprinkles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box Duncan Hines white cake mix
  • 3 eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1.5 oz strawberry gelatin
  • 1.5 oz lime gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 oz whipped topping (thawed)
  • 1/4 cup festive holiday sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan thoroughly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Duncan Hines white cake mix, room temperature eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
  4. Mix on medium speed for about 2 minutes until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  5. Pour the batter into your prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 28-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove the cake from the oven.
  8. Let the cake cool for about 15-20 minutes at room temperature.
  9. While the cake is cooling, prepare the gelatin.
  10. In one bowl, dissolve the strawberry gelatin with 1/2 cup boiling water, stirring until completely dissolved.
  11. In a separate bowl, dissolve the lime gelatin with the remaining 1/2 cup boiling water, stirring until fully dissolved.
  12. Let both gelatin mixtures cool for about 2-3 minutes.
  13. Using the handle of a wooden spoon or a drinking straw, poke holes all over the entire surface of the cake, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  14. Pour the strawberry gelatin mixture over one half of the cake.
  15. Pour the lime gelatin mixture over the other half of the cake.
  16. Place the cake in the refrigerator.
  17. Chill for at least 2 hours, or until the gelatin is completely set and firm to the touch.
  18. Remove the chilled cake from the refrigerator.
  19. Spread the thawed whipped topping evenly over the entire surface.
  20. Sprinkle the festive holiday sprinkles generously over the whipped topping.
  21. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Ensure eggs are at room temperature for a smoother batter.
Let the cake cool for 15-20 minutes before poking holes for best jello absorption.
Do not pour hot gelatin over the cake; let it cool slightly first.
Chill the cake for at least 2 hours to ensure the jello sets completely.
