Chewy, festive cookie bars loaded with M&M’s, chocolate chips, and sprinkles, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • ½ cup light brown sugar packed
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup Christmas M&M’s red and green
  • 1/2 cup Christmas sprinkles red, green and white
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line a 9×9 inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
  3. Place the softened butter, light brown sugar, granulated sugar, large egg, and pure vanilla extract into the bowl of a stand mixer.
  4. Cream these ingredients together on medium speed until they are well combined and creamy.
  5. In a separate large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and kosher salt until evenly combined.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in the stand mixer.
  7. Mix on low speed until just combined, being careful not to overmix the dough.
  8. Fold in 3/4 cup of the Christmas M&M’s, 3/4 cup of the semi-sweet chocolate chips, and 1/4 cup of the Christmas sprinkles into the dough.
  9. Press the cookie dough evenly into the prepared 9×9 inch baking dish.
  10. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of Christmas M&M’s, 1/4 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips, and 1/4 cup of Christmas sprinkles over the top of the dough.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the center is set.
  12. Remove the baking dish from the oven.
  13. Allow the cookie bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before attempting to cut them.
  14. Once completely cool, lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang.
  15. Cut the large bar into 16 individual bars (4×4 grid).

Notes

Ensure butter is softened, not melted, for the best texture.
Do not overmix the dough after adding flour; mix until just combined.
Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting for clean slices.
For extra firm bars, chill them in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before cutting.
